Welcome to this website,
Allow me to tell you right off the bat that I’m NOT an American.
But that doesn’t mean that I don’t love The United States of America.
On the contrary. I LOVE the United States of America. That’s also the reason I have chosen to make it my home ever since June of 2008 and until I don’t know when – possibly indefinitely.
Now loving the US and coming from outside, doesn’t mean I don’t see the bad things or shall we just say the less than great things of the US too. Coming from outside I may have a perspective on the US that may differ from a born and bred American.
Truth is I see the good things and the bad things. I see a nuanced picture.
Now, this may not mean that you would necessarily agree with me on my thoughts, observations or my points of view, but I hope that you will respect my opinions just as much as I respect yours.
I believe in to each their own so to speak. We all differ and yet we are all alike (at least to some degree). We do not always agree on things, but I appreciate the diversity and the differences in opinion. And certainly I really appreciate when you agree with me and think that I’m just so brilliant in my observations.
Anyways, I have thought about establishing this website for some time now, but now I’m finally pulling the trigger and getting it up and running.
Now, do know that I’m a multiple parallel and serial entrepreneur, which basically means that I have a tendency to jump on all opportunities out there for businesses and shiny objects, which has the dark side of robbing your focus and attention not to speak of your time for getting things done on each individual project fully and continuously.
In other words, I have to be honest and upfront tell you that I may find it challenging to upkeep this website and its content on a continuous basis and growing it to the extend that I believe the idea of the website deserves. Truth be told, I know that at times my focus and attention and time will more often than not be robbed off doing much with this site.
But fret not! This is where you come in. I’m hopeful that you may actually be helpful and bring stories and input to the site that seems to have a great fit.
Hmmm, that sounds all very well, but what is this site about?, you may ask.
Well, I’m glad you asked.
My idea for this site is to post stories, images and observations of everything that makes us love the US, while also at the same time bring stories, images and observations of the things that we feel make the US or what goes on in the US a little – shall we say – quirky?
What does that mean exactly?, You may ask.
Well, great question.
OK, so first of all, let me once again stressed that I love the US and I love Americans. I would not have chosen to uproot from far away and move here if I didn’t. I’m also not a whiner and do not wish to ever suck off any welfare of the US, but wish to be a great contributing member of the US society in as many positive contents as possible, supporting with my experiences, expertise, knowledge, education, entrepreneurship, mentor-ship, finances, charity and conversation etc.
That being said. I’m not blind to the double standards that we coming from outside the US often see and honestly sometimes make fun of. Let me please stress that this doesn’t mean we necessarily disrespect anybody, but we do sometimes have a laugh at things. And this is also coming from a viewpoint that laughing is healthy sometimes.
So in other words, my wish for this site is to bring laughter at times, but also direct attention towards more serious issues at other times too. I wish to portray some of the things that make the US great, while also sometimes point to the things that just makes you think, or puts you in a place where you don’t actually know whether you should laugh or cry.
So back to you.
I’m hopeful that since my time and attention and focus is so diluted and distracted, you will enter the arena and bring forth your observations and suggestions for what to bring forth to this site. Something that will make us all think, laugh, smile or stop and ponder over things.
Surround the topic though should be the US, the Americans or the differences between same and everybody else.
Please keep the tine respectful of others and refrain from using profanity or disrespecting anybody.
Again I love the US. I also love the diversity that we can enjoy. I see great things here in the culture and in the states of the US and I see similarly great things in people and countries outside the US too.
What I find interesting is in part the differences, the analogies we can sometimes observe and certainly the quirkiness that may sometimes put a smile on our faces or make us ponder more.
I hope you will be supportive and that you will contribute with your observations, ideas, and thoughts. I hope that you will bring your comments to the table and that you will share this site with your friends, colleagues and other contacts.
